Low Self-Esteem

If the harshest voice in your life belongs to you, you're in the right place. Together we can gently loosen its grip and help you rediscover what has always been worthy inside you.

Low self-esteem doesn't usually look like someone saying 'I don't like myself.' It looks like over-apologizing, over-explaining, playing small, dimming your needs, saying yes when you mean no, feeling like an impostor, or waiting for the moment someone realizes you're not enough. It's quiet. It's exhausting. And it's often been with you for a long time.

Where it comes from

Self-esteem is rarely a personal failing — it's a pattern that was learned, often in childhood, in cultures, in relationships, or in workplaces that rewarded you for being small, useful, or perfect. What was learned can be gently unlearned.

How we might work together

  • Notice and befriend the inner critic instead of fighting it
  • Trace where the voice came from and untangle it from your actual identity
  • Practise self-empathy — the piece so many people skip in favour of self-improvement
  • Reconnect with your values, needs, and what genuinely matters to you
  • Build a way of relating to yourself that's warm, honest, and durable

Drawing on ACT, CBT, and person-centred care, our work is not about pretending you love yourself when you don't. It's about slowly, honestly, changing your relationship with yourself — until being on your own team stops feeling foreign.

FAQs

Common questions.

Isn't low self-esteem just something I need to 'get over'?+
It isn't. If it were that simple, you'd have done it already. Low self-esteem is a pattern that runs deep — and it responds beautifully to gentle, consistent care rather than to willpower.
I'm afraid I'm just self-absorbed if I focus on this. Is that true?+
Not at all. Building self-worth actually makes you more available, honest, and connected in your relationships. It's some of the least self-absorbed work you can do.
Will you make me repeat affirmations?+
No. If affirmations felt good, you'd already be using them. Our work is grounded in what actually shifts self-concept — noticing the inner critic, understanding it, and building genuine self-empathy over time.
How long does this work take?+
Because self-esteem patterns are usually long-held, this tends to be gradual, layered work. Many clients feel real shifts within a few months, with deeper change unfolding beyond that.
