Depression

When everything feels heavy and nothing feels like enough, showing up is already brave. Together we can move — slowly, honestly — from heaviness toward light.

Depression is more than sadness. It's the flat, foggy weight that dulls colour from the things you used to love. It's the guilt of not being able to just snap out of it. It's the exhaustion of holding it all together on the outside while feeling hollow inside.

You don't have to explain it perfectly

A lot of people arrive at therapy for depression not knowing exactly what's wrong. Some feel numb rather than sad. Some are still functioning — work, school, family — but running on empty. Some feel a heaviness that has been there for so long it's hard to remember any other way of being. All of that is welcome here.

How we might work together

There's no one-size-fits-all treatment for depression, and I don't believe in forcing positivity. My approach is warm and integrative — drawing from CBT, ACT, and person-centred care — and shaped around what you actually need.

Together we might gently look at:

  • The thought patterns and self-criticism that keep the weight in place
  • Small, doable steps back toward the things and people that matter to you
  • How your body, sleep, energy, and hormones are part of the picture
  • What has helped in the past — and what you'd like to be different this time

You do not have to earn support by being at your lowest. If some part of you is even reading this, that's enough.

FAQs

Common questions.

I'm still functioning day-to-day. Is my depression 'bad enough' for therapy?+
Yes. High-functioning depression is real and often invisible to the people around you. You don't have to hit a crisis point to deserve care. If life feels heavier than it should, that's reason enough.
Will I have to be on medication?+
Medication is a decision between you and your doctor. Counselling can work alongside medication or on its own — I'll support whatever path is right for you, and I'm happy to work collaboratively with your GP if you'd like.
What if I don't feel like doing anything, including therapy?+
That's often part of what depression does — even helpful things start to feel impossible. We move at your pace. Sometimes the most therapeutic thing you can do is simply show up and let it be a hard day. No performance required.
How long does it take to feel better?+
Every person is different. Some feel a subtle lift within a few sessions; deeper healing takes longer. We'll set gentle goals and check in often, so you can see the change even when it feels slow from the inside.
Do you offer online sessions?+
Yes — in-person in Tsawwassen on Tuesdays and Fridays, and secure online sessions Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday for anyone in BC.
